
June 24, 2025 – Cleveland – Early this morning a battery at Cleveland Public Power’s Lake Road substation overheated causing a fire. CPP de-energized the substation at 3:56 a.m. to ensure safety of personnel and protect the substation equipment.
After receiving clearance from Cleveland Fire, CPP is assessing the damage and identifying emergency repairs to get the substation back on line safely.
At this time, we do not have a timeline for the repairs and bringing the substation back online. This outage affects a large portion of CPP’s downtown and near east side customers including but not limited to:
