It was only fitting that Cleveland Public Power Leader Lineman Bob Kinstler was awarded the AMP Hard Hat Safety Award on October 11, 2018, as the public power utility was celebrating Public Power Week. Public Power Week is a national celebration, which allows utilities to showcase the work they do, and demonstrate the importance of publicly owned utilities.

AMP Member Safety Manager Scott McKenzie was on hand to present the award to Kinstler, who was nominated by CPP Safety Manager Aaron Justi. In nominating Kinstler, Justi said, “Bob was chosen among his peers to receive the AMP Hard Hat Safety Award due to his outstanding confidence as a leader and unwavering attention to safety.”

These sentiments were echoed by McKenzie who has worked with Kinstler and other CPP employees over the years during regular safety training and as participants in the AMP Lineman Rodeo.
Justi further added, “Bob is exceptionally mindful for the safety of his crews from traffic control, personal protective equipment, and especially the safety aspects of working with high voltage.  He clearly communicates and interacts with those in need of instruction.”

James Ferguson, West Side Service Center operations manager encouraged the young linemen on hand to soak up all the knowledge they could from Kinstler, “a stand-up guy with a wealth of knowledge.”
Kinstler also volunteers his time as a pole-climbing instructor for new apprentices, and takes part in the student apprentice board.

We tip our hard hats to Bob Kinstler for his dedication to linemen and CPP.
