APRIL 22, 2022, CLEVELAND -- Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22 to promote environmental awareness. It was first celebrated on April 22, 1970, and is the birth of the modern environmental movement to many. The success of Earth Day is visible through its reach – the day is celebrated globally and recognized in more than 192 countries each year.
The primary message on Earth Day is, “We only have one earth, and she is very precious to us, so we have to treat her good. “ To that end, Cleveland Public Power is working to do our part in sustaining Mother Earth.   

City of Cleveland, CPP begin installation of 61,000 LED streetlights

The City of Cleveland recently announced the launch of its streetlight conversion program, a project that combines cost-saving and energy-efficient LED streetlights with smart camera technology. A total of 61,000 streetlights –owned by Cleveland Public Power (CPP) – are scheduled to be replaced over an 18-month period. The $35 million project is part of Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s Safe Smart CLE initiative.
